Theme:  Dental Health
This week we learned about our teeth and how to keep them healthy.  We also learned about the letter/sound Z.  Mrs. Reilly our schoo nurse, came in and spoke with us about how we keep our hearts healthy.  We talked a lot about healthy versues not so healthy foods too.  Even though cookies do sound tempting, we learned that too much sugar for our body is bad.  It was a very busy week for us!

Theme:  Valentine's Day
This week we talked about Valentine's day.  We practiced making hearts and made many valentine crafts.  We also learned about the sound "b".  We are also almost done with our Handwriting without Tears booklets, so we have been reviewing our numbers 1-8.  Our class was lucky enough to get some new tables and chairs.  The kids love them!  (So do I!!)
Reminder:  Don't forget to get your child's box/bag decorated before Friday's Valentine's day party!

We graphed candy hearts on our graphs on Friday.

Theme:  Groundhog Day
This week we had fun learning about Groundhog Day which is next Monday.  We also took time to sort and explore noodles for our Math Program.  Let's hope the Groundhog doesn't see his shadow on Monday!  I'm ready for spring, how about you??

Theme:  Winter / Hibernation
This week we are continuing to learn about signs of winter.  We are also introducing Hibernation and the animals that do hibernate.  We are doing some shape and number review as well as learning the new sound "U".

We read, The Mitten by: Jan Brett.  Then we laced our own mittens then added the animals from the story in order to our mittens.

This week, we reviewed the numbers 1 - 7 using mini chalkboards.  I am excited to see how much progress all the kids have made in just a matter a month.

January 5 - 9

Theme:  Winter / Snowmen

This week we talked about signs of winter and all the fun things they did over winter break.  I hope you enjoyed your time with your children like I did.  It sounds like they all had a wonderful Christmas.  We got back into the rhythm of school this week and learned about the letter O.  We also had Farm to School this week where Miss Kate taught us about Potatoes.  Although we missed a day this week due to bad weather, I think the students still had fun coming back and getting into the routine.  Stay warm everyone!!

December 8 - 12

Theme:  Gingerbread Man

This week we are talking about the different versions of the Gingerbread Man.  The kids really enjoy the stories and how they are somewhat different, but carry the same story line saying, "Run, run, fast as you can.  You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man!"

We also had our concert this week.  It was a full house, but the kids did a great job!  I was only able to catch one photo before the program, but you can see the excitement in their eyes.  Thanks for coming and being a part of that fun night!
